Great barrel, should have never modified it or sent it down the road. Later I removed the rib and tried a red dot, then a scope and I never shot more consistent with them than I did with the irons. It seemed the optimal length and that was the closest twin I could find to the 327 Federal. I researched the 30 Carbine ballistics before ordering my barrel. Plus, it moves the muzzle blast away from the ears a little bit. It was accurate enough that I shot a few perfect scores with the old 10' vent rib barrel and it's iron sights. I just find the 22' tapered barrel balances best on a Contender Carbine. A 158 pushed as hard as I dared, with a max load of W296, hit those steel plates as hard a my buddies hot 240 grain 44 mag out of his 7.5' redhawk, bystanders couldn't tell a difference.

From my M57A (Serbian version of TT33) 4.5' barrel, I get 1500+fps with 85 grain JHP. Such a versatile cartridge, I used it for years in our woods walk events around here. Did any of you try/have experience 7.62x25 in encore/contender or any other long barrel platforms I keep thinking about getting custom barrel in that caliber (MGM has it in caliber list) for my encore for target and varmint hunting. I never got the opportunity to shoot a deer with one of those rounds but I'm sure they'd do their part if I did mine. My favorite bullet for this work was the Sierra 110JHC.ДЇor large game, I used either the Sierra 170JHC, Hornady 180XTP or a 180RNFP cast bullet. That 10' barrel will run them at 2,000fps which will absolutely make jello out of woodchuck, cuts crows in half and shoots fairly flat out to 150.
